Following the success of last year’s festivities, Madame Brussels Lane will once again embrace the magic of winter with the return of the European Night Market.
Taking place every Friday night from 24 July to 14 August, rug up in their winter woolies and take in the rich European aromas of mulled wine, German sausages and freshly baked pretzels as they browse the mix of new and returning food stalls.
Inspired by the classic Christmas night markets in Manchester (UK) and adored in countries such as Austria, Germany and Switzerland, stalls this year include:
- Freshly baked German pretzels from Bretzel Biz;
- Delicious Polish dumplings from Eastern Bloc;
- Scumptious Flammkuchen from Frieda’s Flammkuchen;
- Melting fondue Cheese from Frencheese;
- Flaming French crème brûlée from The Brûlée Cart;
- French crepes from Les Crepes de Marion; and
- Praline almonds and macadamias from Chooh La La
Indulge in an ale and bratwurst from the German beer garden at The Fringe, warm yourself up with an Italian aperitivo at Babbo, fill up on Turkish gözleme from Göz City. Bluebag Fresh and Rolld open until 9pm. Spoilt Gift & Homewares open until 7pm. Parallel Lines hair salon open until 8pm and The Cobblers Last shoe repairs open until 9pm.
Enjoy live music and entertainment from 5pm until 9pm. Stalls will be trading from 5pm until 10pm. The Fringe will be open late.

Goz City, short for the traditional Turkish pastry called gozleme, has won a legion of fans since opening in Melbourne’s CBD. Not an easy feat in a city that prides itself on its vibrant dining scene.
Voted Best Gozleme by The Age Epicure, the fresh and delicious ingredients used in the famous Turkish flatbread will leave you coming back for more.
Specialising in made-to-order gozleme, there are four permanent varieties of this savoury snack on offer including; cheese and spinach; and herbed chicken. Weekly specials such as Moroccan lamb and pulled pork and fig see this busy CBD lunch spot do a roaring trade. Get in early to avoid the queues!
Children are asked to bring along a quality pre-loved book or two they wish to swap into The Itty Bitty Book Van in exchange for a voucher. The children are then free to browse the shelves of the book van and trade in their voucher for a picture book or chapter book to take home.
Throughout the event, children will have the chance to snuggle up on oversized cushions and enjoy a fun-filled story time – right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
The event is suitable for primary school age children.
A total of six sessions will be held with a limit of eight people per session. The first session will start at 10:30am and each session will run for a duration of twenty minutes.
No bookings are necessary. Children must be supervised at all times by their accompanying parent/guardian.
